Shimano Grappler 300HG Jigging Reel

Building on Shimano’s highly popular Grappler range of tackle is the new dedicated Shimano Grappler 300HG Jigging Reel. These reels are a compact 300 size, which fits nicely into the palm of your hand which is important when working a jig and keeping control of your line. Powered by the Micro Module Gear and X-Ship system, the reel offers super smooth winding. By using the aluminium Hagane Body construction, the Grappler remains rigid under load, giving you the confidence to fish it hard. The Grappler has up to 7kg of drag, an impressive feat for a reel of this size, and gives you the ability to turn a fish’s head on demand. A high gear ratio of 6.2:1 makes it perfect when using micro jigs, or even when fishing the bottom with baits in deeper water. The Shimano Grappler 300HG Reel also features a specially designed handle that’s fitted with a Ci4+ power knob for better leverage and control.

Features:

• Micromodule II:  Improved Micro Module gearing, making the reeling extreme smooth.
• XShip:  XShip is a combination of features that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano ARB roller bearings. This creates more stability.
• Hagane Body:  The HAGANE Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock solid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.
• SVS Infinity:  Shimano’s newest innovation in brake system technology, SVS Infinity provides easy to manage, consistent spool control and brake force. With brake weights that use inner friction against the raceway during the cast, SVS Infinity controls spool speed for precision casting especially when using lighter lures. The external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch baits.
• Exciting Drag Sound:  This audible and highly exciting sound, which occurs when a fish runs, is a modern alternative to the more traditional mechanical clicker or ratchet.
• S3D Spool:  Shimano’s S3D technology leads to significantly reduced spool vibration. By designing a balanced and uniform thin wall aluminium constructed spool, S3D creates an incredibly smooth feeling when casting and retrieving lures.
• S ARB:  Shimano S ARB bearings are high corrosion resistant ARB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust.
• Super Free Spool:  The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard bait casting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased free spool.
