Jackson Artist FR HW Lure

The Jackson Artist FR HW Lure is the Heavy Weight cousin of the Jackson Artist FR Lure. It has the exact same action and can be used in the same way, but its heavier weight allows further casts and a faster sinking rate, which means they’re better for deeper waters, stronger currents, and areas that require longer casts like the beach and rocks.

The ‘FR’ in the Artist’s name stands for ‘Fast Retrieve’, which is what these lures were originally designed for to chase fast-moving pelagic species. So of course, a fast retrieve works wonders when chasing species off the rocks or out of the boat in shallow offshore conditions. However, these lures also work great in estuary systems for species like flathead, jewfish and tailor with a slightly slower retrieve, or even by hopping the lure along the bottom with pauses in between.

Jackson Artist FR85 HW Lure – 85mm

The Artist FR85 Heavy Weight Lure is a great size for use in an estuary when the current is flowing hard or when the water is deeper then around 4m, because in these conditions you’ll normally need a quicker sink rate for best results if using them on or near the bottom. The FR85 HW is also good for use off the shoreline/rocks when you need a longer cast.

Jackson Artist FR95 HW Lure – 95mm

The Artist FR95 Heavy Weight Lure is much like the FR85 and can be used in the same situations, but this lure will give you further casts and a quicker sink rate, so even faster flowing current or deeper areas are better. Also the FR95 has a slightly bigger profile so it can be better for matching bigger baits and targeting bigger fish, particularly offshore.
