Alvey 60G Surf Reel

The Alvey 60G Surf Reel is the most popular direct wind light surf reel model in the Alvey range. The Alvey 60G reel has a metal side cast system, a very strong lightweight graphite backplate, and a stainless steel base assembly. The 6″ spool size ensures a long cast for beach use. The 60G also has a fish alert switch on the backplate that can be engaged if you want to walk away from your rod and leave it in a holder, it will produce a loud clicking noise when line is taken. The design of the Alvey 60G with minimal moving parts means use in the sand and saltwater is no problem, you can even rinse the reel after use with saltwater and it will have no negative effect.

To control a fish taking line on a direct wind reel like the Alvey 60G Reel, take your hand off the handle and quickly put it on the line surface under the spool to create drag pressure. When the fish has slowed, put your hand back to the handle and recover the line and the fish.
